The Pet Locator® is better than the old fashion tags because it offers 24-hour protection, 365 days a year. And provides more than one way the finder of your pet can contact you. Pet Locator®Smart-i-tag™ is always available to quickly re-unite lost pets with their owners.

When you register your Pet Locator® Smart-i-Tag™ with us you will furnish us with several contact numbers. These might be your home, work, cell, a friend, a relative, or your veterinarian’s phone number.  When someone finds your pet they just call the toll-free number on the tag, enter the unique PIN/Code on the tag and our automated calling system will place them directly in touch with you. Remember your phone number, address or other personal information is never revealed to the finder of your pet. Smart-i-tag™ is safe and secure, with no concerns about identity theft.

Like a microchip, Pet Locator® Smart-i-Tag™ is on alert 24/7.

However, when someone finds your lost pet they have no way of knowing if your pet has a microchip. When you attach a Pet Locator® Smart-i-Tag™, your pet tag is visible to someone helping a lost pet. There is no need to go from vet to vet or to a humane society to find the correct scanner needed to read your pet’s chip.  Also, there is no chance the Pet Locator® could cause a medical problem in the pet, which some microchips have been known to do.

Our tags come with Free Tag Replacement for damaged tags for the life of your pet. This may be the best investment you'll ever make for the safety and well being of your pet.*

Pet Locator™ Smart-i-Tag™ vs. Micro Chips
There is a problem for animal shelters and humane societies with different types of microchips available on the market. When a lost pet is picked up by an animal control officer or is taken to an animal shelter or humane society, the professionals there may scan the animal, which will let them know if a microchip has been implanted. However, each company that manufactures microchips has its own scanners, and these scanners "read" their own microchip. In other words, the scanner of one company may not be able to detect the microchip of another manufacturer, leading the shelter staff to believe your pet is not micro chipped. APA."A recent poll showed that of 82 humane shelters contacted randomly, 61 did not have scanners, 8 had scanners but didn't use them and 3 scanned for microchips. Veterinarians scan far less often...Less that 1% of veterinarians scan every new client's pet to see if they are chipped...." Bottom line Pet Locator™ Smart-i-tag™ are visible Micro Chips are not, and has a 95% better chance of getting your pet back than Micro Chips. "....Various frequencies and protocols for RFID exist around the world. They include but are not limited to 125kHz (kilohertz), 128kHz, 134.2kHz, 400kHz, 3.56mHz and 2.54gHz.   It has been demonstrated in the field and through research that when scanners are designed to read or detect more than one frequency, there will be loss in efficiency of the scan and an increase in the time it takes to detect a chip...." Should I Microchip my pet?
We cannot answer that question but we can refer you to two professionals in the pet field that have recently completed long term studies in that area and the result of their studies may suprise you. One individual
Dr. Blake, The Pet Whisperer, has done an indepth study of the virtues of not Microchipping your loved pet and Ginny Rodgers, N.A.P., founder of FurryKids.net, has also done a great amount of research on the same subject matter.  Interestingly enough both experts in their field have come to the same conclusion.
